Can Christians Tap into Law of Attraction?

January 29th, 2010 by admin, No Comments »

The short answer is Yes. So keep reading.

Jesus teaches Christians to open their lives to faith in the Father. Our salvation is not found in the perfection of our obedience. Instead, it’s found in God’s infinite compassion, which only our pride and complacency can obstruct.

The same is true for the Law of Attraction. If we remain complacent, if we believe we don’t need it, or even that we don’t deserve it, we can’t reap the rewards of what the universe can bring to us.

As Christians, we believe that God wants the very best for us. We just have to ask Him for it. That same faith and belief are necessary to the Law of Attraction. We have to believe that we will attract good things to us, that we deserve them. But I’ve known a number of Christians who don’t believe God wants us to reach our best, just as I’ve known people who don’t quite understand the Law of Attraction means being open to the best, and feeling they deserve it.

Faith and belief operate in the subconscious mind. What we believe in this part of the mind is what we experience. The Christian understanding and faith in the power of love, compassion and forgiveness are not unique to Christianity. They are universal principles. The Law of Attraction is the same, encompassing these beliefs and others, and its power is not exclusive to, nor does it replace a belief in Christ. The Law of Attraction is among the universal truths established by God. This power exists through Christianity, Islam, or Judaism, and making a connection to that power is the key. Connection is imperative. Faithful prayer or meditation will give you that connection.

Similarly, we obstruct our own intentions with this pride, complacency, and negative thought. With faith and connection in God, and using tools like affirmations and visualizations to tap into the Law of Attraction, success is within your grasp.

Four Common Mistakes People Make with the Law of Attraction (and How to Correct Them)

  • Mistake #1: Not allowing the universal mind to take over.
Due to a lack of belief and the encroaching conscious mind, one of your strongest emotions often leaks through: doubt. Doubt in yourself, doubt in the power of the Universal Law, and ultimately an unwillingness to “let go” and allow the Law of Attraction to work. This is a core emotion tied to a lifetime of experience that brought you to this point in time. No one said that it would be easy to rid yourself of unbelief, and the enormity of Universal Intelligence and the Law of Attraction that governs it, is hard to grasp.

Overcome this mistake by going back to those moments when you have enacted the steps to harness the Law of Attraction and you’ve reached a goal. Or, if you’re just now discovering Law of Attraction, recall a wonderful event in your life, and trace back the reasons this occurred. Undoubtedly, the Law of Attraction was involved.

  • Mistake #2: Simply not enough positive thinking.
Where there’s doubt, there’s not enough positive thinking. Your conscious mind with all of its emotions is reactionary. You are programmed to doubt, to have negative thoughts, to imagine the worst case scenario — it’s a survival instinct leftover from times when fire was new and a berry bush might be poison. Survival instincts are good, but we’re a little less hairy these days and loin cloths are out of style. Doubt has crept into other parts of our lives. Learn to overcome this mistake by replacing negative thoughts that keep you from your intention with positive ones.
  • Mistake #3: Not being properly connected to Universal Intelligence or God.
Let’s say you’ve got a toaster. You’ve got a piece of bread. Your intention is to make toast, you’re imagining toast, and you’re feeling positive about the outcome of toast. But, the toaster is not plugged in. You have to have a connection first. As we’ve discussed in previous posts, a connection to something bigger is required to harness the Power within yourself. Meditation or deep prayer are the solution or you’ll wind up toastless and stuck on Mistake #1.
  • Mistake #4: Your expectations of the Law of Attraction are not realistic.
We’re an impatient species. We want what we want, and we want it now. We also have a tendency to shoot for the moon before the rocket is even built. Setting your intention, the first step to harnessing the Law of Attraction, takes some thought. It’s common for people new to the idea of the Law of Attraction to be less patient, and they’re often committing mistake 1, 2 or 3. The Universe has the capacity to deliver quickly, but you need to be in a place where your intentions are clear, you’re harnessing the power of positive thinking towards those intentions and you’re connected to Universal Intelligence or God. It all has to be in place in your mind.
  • Essential Steps to Healing Yourself with LOA

It is entirely possible to manifest physical healing using the principles of the Law of Attraction.

    1. Intend – set clear intentions
    2. Believe – desire and trust to follow through
    3. Connect – through meditation find power

I hope you’ve noticed that meditation has been a consistent element in tapping into the power of the Law of Attraction. Through meditation you are accomplishing many things at once. You align yourself with the Universal Mind and achieve a state of oneness with the spirit of God. You find yourself vibrating on a frequency where something profound can be felt. You become aware that God is around you, all around you, and within you. So, within the presence of God and acknowledging in a elemental way His love, you start to experience the healing you’re looking for.

Thinking positive, visualizing and the other steps to tapping into LOA are great, but they’re just tools. You must meditate and find a connection to God, because only on that frequency do you find the source of real power.

You may assume my repeated mention of God or Universal Mind implies a connection to religion. Maybe you see your lack of connection to an established religion a hindrance to tapping into LOA. Not true. I am not a religious person, but I’m spiritual. A belief in something greater is the only requirement to discovering its power. This power is essential to healing.

Healing with the Law of Attraction

God is perfect. Everything about God is perfect, and as beings built in his image — built by purely positive intention — our base state is health. By consciously seeking and attuning yourself with God and the positive, the return is positive, including good health. Remember this and recall it often. You can maintain good health or heal yourself with that connection with the Universal Mind.

And as I’ve repeated in this blog, the Law of Attraction works both ways. Worry, doubt, anger and other negative thoughts that we unload into the universe attract more negative energy and sometimes this causes health problems. This is the frequency you’ve allowed yourself to tap into.

But, what about healing yourself once you’ve reached the point of illness? Your goal should be to closely align yourself with the Universal Mind in spirit.

Start healing yourself from the inside out. Cast out negative thoughts and worry. Replace those thoughts with positive ones. Visualize yourself healthy and active, perhaps playing your favorite sport or spending quality time with family. Align yourself with a greater power through meditation or deep prayer. Tap into the universal goodness that is in the Universal Intelligence and allow it to permeate your being. And then, let go. Don’t try to force it, because this implies impatience and doubt. Connect with God and believe that healing is possible, and it will be.

Five Great Books about the Law of Attraction

If you’re just discovering the Law of Attraction, here are a few books to give you a basic understanding and get you started along the path of attracting greatness.

  • The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne
The Secret is a good book to introduce the subject. Take away the Hollywood glitter and glam, and this book creates a convincing argument that you are not helpless in this life. The power, the ability to change your life is within your grasp. However, with its superficial overview and flavor of the month popularity, I have known people that only use one tool to tap into the Law of Attraction and find themselves disappointed when it doesn’t instantly change their lives. Read this with the knowledge that it’s just the tip of the iceberg, then delve into something deeper.
  • The Magic of Thinking Big, by David Schwartz
What I like about this book is that it goes more into depth about the why involved with LOA. If I do this, why do I get this result? What do I need to do? Just thinking positively doesn’t make good things materialize. Why does not being in tune with the right thoughts attract the wrong results? Schwartz answers these questions in simple terms.
  • Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill
This book’s whole objective is an exercise in the Law of Attraction, and Napoleon Hill does an excellent job of setting intention from the very beginning. I also recommend any video you can track down by this author because his passion shines through and inspires. He vibrates on a positive frequency. In this book he brings real examples of wealthy, successful people and the common principles they held as universal truths. Not only does this book show you how great men found great success, but how you can do it too.
  • The Twelve Pillars, Jim Rohn and Chris Widener
I love that this book weaves profound lessons through a great story. It’s about a guy who was miserable in his corporate job and had screwed things up with his family and kids. This guy meets an old man who, through a series of events, invites him to his home. The house turns out to be an amazing mansion and a symbol for great success. The elderly owner of the house tells the distraught younger man his rags to riches story and they end up becoming friends. The twelve pillars (also part of the house’s architecture) end up being the old man’s guiding principles and the knowledge he imparts the younger guy. Plus, there’s a great twist at the end.
  • The Traveler’s Gift, Andy Andrews
Similar to The Twelve Pillars, this is a story about finding success. A guy working in direct marketing finds a mentor who shows him the path to success. It just so happens that all of the lessons the mentor imparts are principles of the Law of Attraction. It does a great job of illustrating the real life applications of the Law. It’s an easy read.
